Chen Lijun, a Yue Opera performer, apologized during an encore performance on Tuesday for her controversial claim that "Jia Baoyu, the leading role in Dream of the Red Chamber is the eldest son and grandson." However, the gesture failed to resolve the growing controversy.
5月7日，江苏省红楼梦学会会长南京大学文学院教授苗怀明在接受扬子晚报采访时表示，“被各种问候祖宗十八代，铺天盖地的网暴直到陈丽君致歉也没有停止。”
Professor Miao Huaiming, a faculty member at School of Liberal Arts, Nanjing University, disclosed in an interview on Wednesday that he has been subjected to relentless harassment from Chen's fans. This occurred after he published an academic clarification regarding Chen's misinterpretation of the classic novel Dream of the Red Chamber, despite the actor's public apology.
据报道，在陈丽君“贾宝玉是长子长孙”这一表述引发热议之后，苗怀明对此做了科普：
《红楼梦》中，贾府分宁、荣二府，而按古制，“长子长孙”应该是宁国府的贾珍。
如果荣国府一定要论“长子长孙”，那贾琏更为适合。即便是从贾政一家来说，贾宝玉也不是长子。
随后，苗怀明就遭到了各种骚扰电话的狂轰滥炸。
苗怀明表示，“我的疑问是，首先，陈丽君说错了吗？第二个问题是，说错了，难道不能指出问题吗？第三个问题，陈丽君道歉了，这几天一直在铺天盖地骂我、骚扰我的粉丝，是不是该给个说法？”
苗怀明表示，还有人专门写了一篇文章论《陈丽君对宝玉的解读无误》，“看这篇文章的评论，可以看到明白人还是有许多。反向捧杀的同时，暴露了自己的无知。本来没多大的事情，书没读清楚可以再多读，话说错了承认错误提升自己就好了，没必要强行洗白，更不能网暴他人。对事情的判断缺乏常识、不讲逻辑、没有是非观念，这样的饭圈文化令人痛心。”
The scholar criticized attempts to justify Chen's interpretation, such as a recently circulated article claiming her reading of Jia Baoyu's lineage was accurate. "While the article's comment section reveals many rational observers, this revisionist defense ultimately exposes intellectual bankruptcy. Misinterpreting literature warrants further study; misspeaking requires sincere rectification—not forced justification or cyberbullying. Such fan-driven disregard for scholarly rigor, logical reasoning and ethical boundaries is profoundly alarming," Miao said.
苗怀明表示，“本来是一件很小的事情，为什么演变成如此大的一件事情，我作为一个专业学者，作为一个教育工作者，见到这种常识性的错误进行纠正，我必须做，这是我的职责，我过去这样做，现在这样做，将来我还会这样做。”
"Why has this minor incident escalated? As both a Redology scholar and educator, correcting fundamental errors is non-negotiable. This is my enduring commitment—past, present and future," Miao said.
对此，不少网友也支持苗教授的做法：
极目新闻指出，客观来看，苗教授遭遇的就是饭圈的乱象，粉丝过度维护偶像，甚至不分对错。一旦偶像犯错，不容置疑，不容批评，甚至不惜采取极端手段维护偶像的形象和地位，这是对偶像的“捧杀”。
中青评论指出，警惕、批判“饭圈”乱象，并不是反对追星，更不是对全体明星粉丝开“地图炮”，而是着力于为“饭圈”文化打入理性之桩，在法律和道德上为其划定边界。对此，不论是“圈内人”还是“圈外人”，都应形成合力，提倡理性、健康的追星方式，反对一切极端行为，如此才能为年轻人提供更好的成长环境。
